Two suspected drug dealers have been arrested after 110 wraps of suspected heroin and crack cocaine were found in Bootle.
In the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 16 June), Matrix officers were on patrol on Stanley Road when they stop searched two men who had cannabis in their possession.
Both suspects were taken to a police station for a further search to be conducted where 70 wraps of suspected crack cocaine and heroin were found hidden in one man’s underwear. A large quantity of cash was also found in his possession. The other man had 40 wraps of suspected crack cocaine and heroin concealed in his shorts.
Two men, aged 54 and 52 years, from Bootle were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs, namely heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis. They are still in police custody for questioning.
Matrix Chief Inspector Derek Riley said: “This is a very good result where suspected drug dealing has been uncovered, and two arrests have been made.
"A significant quantity of suspected Class A drugs has now been removed from our streets which could have seriously harmed vulnerable drug users who are exploited by drug dealers and organised crime groups.
“Drug dealing is hugely damaging to our communities, and this is part of our proactive work to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets.
“We rely on information from the public and I would ask our community to be our eyes and ears.
“I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken.”
