Three people were arrested yesterday (Sunday 15 March) after a man was stop checked which led to suspected drugs being found.
At around 10.50am officers were on patrol in Ashurst Drive when they noticed a man acting suspiciously who then ran away when officers approached him. Following a chase, he was searched and a golf ball size bag containing brown powder (suspected heroin) and two bags of a white rock substance (suspected crack cocaine) were found in his possession.
A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs (cocaine and heroin).
Officers then went to search a flat where two people tried to leave the premises. However, they were detained and stop searched. A mobile phone and scales were located inside a handbag and following a search of a flat, scales, drug bags and a bag of white powder were discovered.
A 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs (cocaine and heroin).
The three suspects have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Inspector Ian Peacock said: “This is a good result where suspected drug dealing has been uncovered, and three people were arrests have been made.
“Drug dealing is hugely damaging to our communities, and this is part of our proactive work to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets.
“We rely on information from the public and I would ask our community to be our eyes and ears.
“I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken.”
