We arrested two males after a Sur-ron bike failed to stop for officers in the Haydock area last night, Monday 23 March.
Officers were in the area of Station Road and Cooper Lane at around 8.45pm when the bike failed to stop for patrols.
A short time later one of the males came off the bike and made off on foot before being detained by an officer from the Targeted policing team. The second male made off on the bike across fields and was pursued.
The police helicopter was able to guide officers to detain the male on Chain Lane.
A 17-year-old male from Haydock was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving without due care and attention, drug driving, failing to stop, handling stolen goods and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and without third party insurance.
A 16-year-old male, also from Haydock, was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
Both have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Matrix roads policing Inspector Ian Cowell said: "This was a great example of how we work together, and with our colleagues at the National Police Service, to bring pursuits to a successful and safe conclusion and apprehend offenders to ensure motorists and members of the public remain safe."
