We are appealing for information after a fire at a restaurant in Haydock on Monday 11 May.
At around 5.50pm we received a report of a fire at Leo’s Restaurant Bar and Grill on Branchway.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) attended and extinguished the fire.
An extensive joint investigation is now being carried out by MFRS and Merseyside Police to establish the full circumstances of the fire. Detectives will continue to assess CCTV footage and conduct witness enquiries.
Detective Inspector Carla Cross said: “We are in the early stages of an investigation and are working closely with MFRS to establish the cause of the large fire at Leo’s Restaurant Bar and Grill.
“It was reported to our officers that a man wearing black clothing approached the rear of the property before the fire started on Monday 11 May. Another male was seen on an E-scooter wearing black clothing near the premises and a third male was also seen running away from the restaurant when Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service arrived.
“We are appealing to witnesses to contact police if they saw any of these males running from the restaurant at around 5.50pm.
“Similarly if you work or live near the restaurant and have any CCTV footage of the incident on Monday 11 May please contact police. This information could be vital to our investigation.”
