Emergency services are in attendance in the Smithdown Road area of Liverpool following reports of a fire this evening (Sunday 10 May).
The fire was reported to have started at a takeaway on the street, near its junction with Barrington Road, at around 10.05pm.
Officers are attending to support the closure of a large section of Smithdown Road so that colleagues at Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service (MFRS) can deal with the incident.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes and a number of residents and businesses nearby have been evacuated as a precaution.
