A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences after several wraps of white powder, cannabis and cash were seized last night, Monday 19 October.
Just before 9.55pm officers spotted a boy riding a bicycle on Brighton Street, Birkenhead, without any fitted lights.
Officers stopped and searched the teenage boy after they noticed a strong smell of cannabis and found three bags of cannabis, ten wraps containing white powder, £700 and two mobile telephones that were constantly ringing.
The 17-year-old boy from Birkenhead was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A controlled drug, possession with intent to supply Class B controlled drugs and possession of criminal property. He was taken to a police station in Merseyside where he remains in custody.
Officers later searched an address in the area and found cannabis, another mobile phone, cash and a bag of suspected white powder.
Detective Inspector Phil Ryan said: “To carry such a significant amount of illicit drugs in our neighbourhood is a serious crime that can put vulnerable members of our community at risk.
“Such crimes will not be tolerated on our streets, regardless of the age of the person responsible.
“We will continue to increase patrols in hotspot areas across Merseyside and seize any items or drugs we find that could cause disruption on our streets.
“If you know anyone who is carrying, using, or storing drugs in properties in your community please come forward so we can continue to disrupt offenders and bring them to justice.”
