CCTV appeal following sexual assault in Liverpool city centre

Detectives have issued CCTV images of a woman who may have information that could assist with their enquiries after a police officer was touched inappropriately in Liverpool city centre.

At around 12.30am on Sunday 20 September an officer was dealing with an arrest on North John Street when he was touched inappropriately as two women and a man walked past them towards Cook Street.

CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the alleged offender, and detectives have issued images of a woman they believe could assist with their investigation. 

Detective Inspector Jemma Berry said: “This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable, and we take reports of sexual assault very seriously. We are very keen to speak with woman featured in the images to help with our enquiries.

“I understand these images are not very clear but I think people would still recognise the person featured.

“I am appealing to the woman featured in these images, or anyone who recognises them to please contact us. We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
