Continued appeal after city centre stabbing

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information following a stabbing in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning (20 September).

At around 6.35am, officers were called to Tithebarn Street after three men were found injured. All three victims were taken to hospital for assessment and one remains in hospital in a stable condition.

It is believed the incident took place outside the G-Bar on Eberle Street following an altercation between two groups inside.

Officers have conducted extensive CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries and are working to trace three white male suspects, aged in their late teens to early 30s.

Detective Chief Inspector Lisa McNaughton said: “We understand the concern that such a serious incident will cause. That is why we have undertaken extensive enquiries, and our investigation is progressing well.

“We have spoken to a number of witnesses already, but if you haven’t yet spoken to police and may have seen any part of this incident, we would urge you to come forward.

“While the incident happened outside a known LGBTQ+ bar, I want to reassure that community that there is no suggestion from our enquiries so far that the incident has a hate crime element.

“A knife was recovered at the scene and is being forensically examined. We will continue to do all we can to identify the people responsible and support the victims as this investigation progresses.

“While three men sustained injuries in this incident, the consequences could have been far worse.
