Man arrested following burglaries at several pubs in Sefton

A man has been arrested following a series of burglaries at pubs in Sefton.

Between Wednesday 15 July and Tuesday 15 September we received several reports that a suspect broke into eight pubs across Bootle, Litherland and Seaforth and stole alcohol and cash from fruit machines and tills inside the premises.

Forensic examinations have been conducted and following a police investigation officers have arrested a 46-year-old man from Bootle on suspicion of burglary.

He has been taken to a police station in Merseyside where he will be questioned by detectives.

Detective Inspector Sara Lang said: Thanks to the actions of our officers an arrest has been made following several burglaries from local pubs in the area.

“Burglaries from local businesses are not victimless crimes and can have a serious financial impact on people’s livelihoods and income.

“Although an arrest has been made our enquiries are still ongoing and we are continuing to work with the owners of the pubs who were targeted.

“Information from the public about these burglaries in the area is a vital part of our investigations. If you have any CCTV footage of these recent incidents or saw what happened please contact us.”
