Man banned from Prescot retail park and Earlestown

A thief has been banned from a retail park in Prescot and Earlestown town centre after pleading guilty to stealing from a retail store.

Yesterday (Wednesday 16 September) Lachlan Peace pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court to four counts of shop theft from B&M stores in Prescot and Earlestown.

The court heard that Peace, 34 years, carried out the thefts in April and June this year. This included targeting the B&M in Newton-Le-Willows on three occasions worth £36 on 13 April, and £70 and 56 on the same day – 14 April.

On 29 June he stole confectionary items valued at £36 from B&M at Cables Retail Park in Prescot.

Yesterday the court issued Peace, of Park Road South in Newton-Le-Willows, with a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order where he is banned from entering Cables Retail Park and Haydock Street, Crow Lane, Market Street, St John Street, Sankey Street, Street and Bridge Street in Earlestown. He was also ordered to pay £160 compensation to B&M and carry out a 12-momnth community order.

Doug Chadwick said: “His prolific thieving had a detrimental effect on B&M’s loss of stock, and this Criminal Behaviour Order is a great result for the community and hopefully should prevent further offences.

“Criminal Behaviour Orders continue to be an extremely effective tool and our successful application in this case shows our commitment to dealing robustly with repeat offenders who have a negative impact on the communities we serve. 

“We hope this serves as a clear warning to others, that the force will robustly take steps to address prolific offenders, working with businesses and partners.”
