This nationally accredited, one-year development programme is designed to help you grow your skills, build confidence, and become a role model in your community.

What You’ll Experience

• Weekly sessions during term time in uniform, where you'll learn about the many roles within Merseyside Police – including visits to the control room, mounted department, and firearms unit.
• Hands-on police training to build practical skills and knowledge.
• Opportunities to take part in community projects, fundraising, civic events, and team-building activities.

Through this structured programme, you’ll develop your strengths, build lasting friendships, and help strengthen the bond between the police and local communities.

How to Apply – Step by Step

1. Complete the Online Application
   Start by filling out a simple online form with your personal details – just like a standard job application. It’s quick and easy to get started.
2. Vetting Process
   As part of the application, we carry out a routine background check on you and your immediate family. This is a standard part of joining the Cadet programme and helps ensure everyone’s safety.
3. Attend an Induction Evening
   If your application is successful, you’ll be invited to an induction evening with a parent or guardian. You’ll learn more about the programme, meet some of the team, and have the chance to ask any questions you might have.
