Local residents and regular users of Birkenhead Park have raised concerns about persistent antisocial behaviour within the area. Reports indicate ongoing damage to park furniture, which is contributing to a decline in the park’s condition and undermining the overall sense of safety.
There are concerns about drug dealing in the park and people sleeping rough in tents.
Collectively, these issues are affecting public confidence and reducing the enjoyment of the space for families, visitors, and the wider community.

In response to the concerns raised, local policing teams have increased both high-visibility and targeted patrols within Birkenhead Park to provide reassurance and deter antisocial behaviour. Officers are working closely with council partners, park staff, and community representatives to identify offenders, address damage to park facilities, and implement long-term problem-solving measures.
A multi-agency walkabout has also been conducted to bring together key partners, assess the issues on site, and agree coordinated actions to improve safety and the environment within the park.
Dedicated resources are focusing on activity with proactive operations, stop-and-search activity, and intelligence-led deployments aimed at identifying those involved. Police remain committed to improving safety within the park and restoring confidence among residents and visitors.
