Our Auditor’s Annual Report (‘AAR’) summarises the work we have undertaken as the auditor for the Police and Crime Commissioner for Merseyside (‘the PCC’) and the Chief Constable of Merseyside Police (‘the CC’) for the year ended 31 March 2024. Although this report is addressed to the PCC and CC, it is designed to be read by a wider audience including members of the public and other external stakeholders.

The Statement of Accounts provide details of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s (PCC) and the Group i.e. incorporating the Chief Constable, financial activities for the year ending 31st March 2024. The accounts are published in accordance with the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015.

This report is based on evidence collected through extensive peer-led engagement workshops – The MYC has exceeded its target by reaching over 1,728 young people from across Merseyside this year. The responses have been gathered through youth-led engagement events such as workshops, outreach stands, one-2-one interviews, targeted surveys, and social media campaigns.

Merseyside Police has produced this document in anticipation of a substantial number of requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 relating to Operation Pepperberry/Operation Greenbank (disorder in Merseyside starting Monday 29th July 2024). The strategy aims to provide a transparent approach to FOI requests, detailing the information the Force intends to publish. Producing such a strategy will assist the Force and the public in ensuring timely and transparent responses to all requests.
