Prevention is a priority for Merseyside Police and for our communities, who deserve to be safe and feel safe.
A greater focus on prevention will help us change the lives of individuals, families and communities by reducing harm, vulnerability and victimisation. We will do this by driving change in Merseyside Police, to empower people to find ways they can support prevention in day-to-day activities, as well as responding to it. This could be achieved through signposting to other agencies, adopting longer-term partnerships, problem-solving, or equally, taking positive action through arrest.
We recognise the value of working in partnership and the specialist knowledge and skills that our partners can bring to prevention. Merseyside Police will not try to fix problems or deliver interventions that partners are better qualified to address. We will continue to develop a strong, collaborative, whole system approach, so that the right agency intervenes at the right time to improve life chances for everyone in Merseyside.
By working together, we can be part of a positive change on Merseyside that has the potential to support everyone and build safer lives for our communities now and in the future.
