The aim of this policy is to set out the way in which PAVA Irritant Spray will be used in Merseyside Police as a response option for officers’ personal safety and conflict resolution.

This policy aims to minimise the risk of injury to Police Officers, Special Constables, Police Community Support Officers and Police Staff from edged weapons or firearms, through the provision and wearing of personal issue body armour, whilst engaged in their operational or contractual duties. The Force will issue body armour, which provides the level of protection to the standard approved for the specific role. The standard will be determined by a role-based risk assessment.

This procedure aims to establish the use of formal Post Incident Procedures (PIP), when necessary, following any death or serious injury concerning Merseyside Police.

The main aim of this policy is to make best use of the available legislation to ensure the safety of all road users within the Merseyside area.

Merseyside Police is committed to improving road safety. We recognise that there will be occasions when police escorts are necessary to enable maximum public safety and minimum disruption to all road users and the general community within Merseyside.

This policy ensures the effective management of abstractions from Neighbourhood Policing teams. It aims to maintain the visibility and activity of these teams within their designated Hub areas, supporting the delivery of local priorities and the Force Strategy.

The aim of this policy is to clearly define the Force’s current approach to dealing with circumstances where a person who has come to notice represents a clear risk to children, vulnerable persons or the wider public in their occupation or voluntary setting by virtue of their alleged offending.

The overriding objective is to ensure that buildings and spaces that BCUs/Depts and their teams move from, are clear of all Police related evidence, paperwork, archives/heritage items, ICT equipment and operational equipment prior to the buildings and spaces being handed over to Corporate Assets, and to ensure the security of the site/space thus preventing any opportunity for reputational damage.

The aim of this policy is to give clear guidance to all staff as to the Force’s stance on the acceptance of gifts and hospitality. This policy will establish and maintain a consistent approach for staff in relation to the offer, refusal/acceptance and recipients of gifts, gratuities and hospitality; thereby satisfying the public that gifts or hospitality are not improperly given or received and that any offer of the same is transparent and auditable.

The main aims of this policy are to: a) Address loss of confidence by the Force in any particular individual/s when serious concerns arise as to their suitability to perform a specific role or duty. b) Protect the integrity of the organisation, individuals and operations. The policy is designed to ensure all police officers and police staff are fully aware of their respective and joint responsibilities regarding confidence issues. It is underpinned by procedures that detail the steps to be taken at all relevant stages.
