We are responding to community concerns linked to drug and alcohol related anti social behaviour in the ward. Over the last month we are aware of reports of drug dealing taking place from residential properties in and around the Fraser Street and London Road areas.

We are working closely with different organisations to deal with this issue together. These include Housing Solutions, Housing Associations, the Local Authority, the Whitechapel Centre, and a local hostel. By working as a team, we aim to reduce anti-social behaviour linked to people living in or visiting the area, while also making sure support is available to those who need it.
Officers are regularly out on patrol and speaking with residents, business owners, and community leaders. This helps us understand local concerns and gather useful information. We have also carried out targeted operations in the area, with officers in both plain clothes and high-visibility patrols to reduce crime and reassure the public.
We know that some local shops have been targeted by people trying to fund drug addictions. To help with this, we have secured funding for a Safer Pod, which has been placed in shops that are most affected. This has been successful in reducing crime by acting as a strong visual deterrent.
As well as taking enforcement action, we are supporting a local art project. This project encourages people struggling with addiction to engage in a positive way with support services. The aim is to tackle the root causes of offending and help people make better long-term choices.
Information from the public, residents, and community leaders is very important in helping us identify those responsible. We continue to work with our partners, including schools and local organisations, to take action, respond to crime, and gather intelligence. This work helps us use the right legal powers to deal with offending and, where necessary, prevent those responsible from coming into the area.
